Don Quixote Lecture Series & Master Class in Chicago
via @JoffreyBallet — The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet will host a Don Quixote themed master class on Monday October 17 at 5:30 pm. This open class is designed for all levels of students, from youth to adult and will be taught by Ericka Mac, a multifaceted dancer and performer who is well versed in Don Quixote anthology. In the first part of the class, Ericka will provide a brief history of the Don Quixote story and choreography. The second part of the class will incorporate a fun barre warm up choreographed to Don Quixote music and students will also learn Kitri’s sassy variation from Don Quixote.
The class will be held at the Joffrey Tower on 10 East Randolph Street in downtown Chicago. The class is $15 for adults and $10 for students with a valid college ID. The Joffrey Ballet has started a new pre-performance lecture series during the 2011-2012 New Generation season. Prior to the first Saturday matinee performance, the Thursday evening performance, and the second Saturday evening performance for each of our programs, ticket-holders will have the opportunity to meet Joffrey dancers, visiting choreographers, and members of the creative team who make our productions possible.
The following schedule of speakers will be presented prior to performances of Don Quixote:
· Saturday Matinee, October 15, at 6:30PM with Travis Halsey, Costume Designer
· Thursday, Evening, October 20, at 1:00PM with Christine Rocas, Dancer
· Saturday Evening, October 22, at 1:00PM with Cynthia VonOrthal, VonOrthal Puppets
“Meet the Artists” is open to all ticket holders the day of the performance, and subscribers regardless of their performance night. We ask that patrons please bring their ticket or subscriber card to the event. This event will take place at the Auditorium Theatre, right off of aisle 1 (house right). Doors open one hour and fifteen minutes before curtain. “Meet the Artists” will begin one hour prior to curtain and conclude when the house opens. Anyone who does not have a ticket for the performance following must immediately leave the theatre as soon as the talk is over.
