danceoftheday:

“And then it dawned on me. This guy combined three of my favorite things: interacting with people, seeing the city, and dancing.”

Dance walking? Genius. Or, as I like to say, dance dance revolutionary.

You mean not everyone does this?

New Company Would Appreciate Your Support

@SwiShwiShDance could use a kickstart only $200 from their goal. http://kck.st/ku9EBA

SwiShwiSh Dance is a contemporary dance company of highly skilled dancers. It is based in New York City and was founded by Ashley Ortiz. Choreography will first be premiered in July 2011 and many more works will continue to be shown throughout the year.

“We currently launched a Kickstarter project which is basically a website where creative projects can get funded. It is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands. It is extremely important for us to reach our goal because we would love to expose our work to as many places as possible. We need the funding to rent space, for all of the fees for the venues, payment for our dancers, costumes/make-up/props. The best part about the kickstarter project is that sponsors get gifts designed by us & we are offering limited edition 2012 calendars with professional shots of our dancers, exclusive footage of the process of the creation of our current piece Ángeles Caídos, t-shirts, tank tops, shorts & a bag with our logo, an opportunity to dance or be apart of a rehearsal for a future piece & even complimentary tickets to our first out of state performance!”

SwiShwiSh Dance is committed to exposing the depths and complexities of our imaginations through our movement. We believe in truth through creation and we allow dance to be one of the main mediums by which our wildest imaginations can come to life. We want to inspire our community to go back to their youthful imaginations & to always keep their will alive to make their imaginations come to life. Eventually we would love to teach dance classes in NYC to all ages to help the explore the beauty, power & creativity that comes from contemporary modern dance. Ashley has always been interested in sci-fi and/or horror genres so interestingly, choreography has had a twist of them, which causes our senses to be heightened more than usual. We hope to have your mind racing and we wish to take you on a shocking ride!
